My niece is going through a divorce and it's been so long since I went through mine. I'm seeking advice on how to find, if possible, free or low budget attorneys, and also how to look up any reviews on attorneys. When I went through my divorce, money wasn't a giant issue as I was working and making a decent wage so I could afford one. I went through word of mouth when I finally picked my attorney. I was in a small city. She is in a much bigger city, and money is a factor because she is a SAHM.

Go to your local Bar Association for a referral.
Also she can hire an attorney and request the spouse pay the fees if there is unreasonable behavior and the STBX is looking to play games.
A mediator might be a cheaper option as well.

I found mine through a google maps search for local attorneys. I read the reviews and found a few who do free initial consultations. That's a good way to meet them face to face (or by phone), find out their rates, and see if she likes them.
